REFINERY CONFIGURATION OVERVIEW
Introduction
The refinery aims at reducing Nigeria’s dependency on imported refined products by processing domestic crudes and produce refined petroleum products to the local and international market.
The project will be implemented in different phases:
- Phase 1 Hydro-skimming refinery producing Gasoline and Diesel Naphtha Isomerization and H2 Plant. Gasoline and Diesel will meet Euro V specifications
- Phase 2 Future Addition FEED of Residue FCC complex, including Unsaturated LPG Treatment, Butane Alkylation and FCC Gasoline Treatment units
- Phase 2A Addition of SAF plant
N.B.: the Phase 1 will prioritize the EPC of Tank Farm in order to start trading and distribution of imported refined products in Nigeria (import terminal to be considered is the existing Bonny Export Terminal)

REFINERY CONFIGURATION – BIOFUEL CO-PROCESSING
The refinery will include a medium size biofuels co-processing plant in the range of 90,000 TPA Renewable Diesel, SAF and Bio-Naphtha. Medium size plant is preferable to produce SAF since, according to the EU regulation, it must be done from 2nd Generation Feedstocks (i.e. not food competitive) which are limited in quantities. Europe is the market at highest price premium for SAF

Refinery Design Specification
The refinery is designed to be sized for 100,000bpd name plate capacity and to process export grade Bonny Light crude oil. 100,000bpd CDU capacity, NHT, Isomerization, Reformer, DHT and an RFCC unit with its associated processes. The refinery is designed to produce Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG), Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), Automotive Gas Oil(AGO), Jet A1 & Heavy Fuel Oil (HFO). The refinery yield is described below
